The following e-mail has been received today. If you are able
to help, please contact John Phipp who has a definitive list of the sites of
graves on the Isle of Man.
Good afternoon
Please excuse me
writing from work but I am taking the opportunity of lunch time to
investigate the possibility of help in photographing war graves on the Isle of
Man
I am the
Co-ordinator of The War Graves Photographic Project
www.twgpp.org which is working in
conjunction with the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) to photograph
1.75 million war graves around the world.
We are purely a
volunteer organisation (including myself) and utilise a volunteer force of
over 700 people around the world to take photographs of listed war graves of
which we have just short of 1 million at present.
The majority of
UK is now complete but we are in need of a number of images from the Isle of
Man and I was wondering if any of your members might like to help. I
appreciate that the photographing of war graves is probably not the most
artistic uses of photography skills but we have other camera club members
helping and they appreciate what we are trying to achieve.
For interest I
have attached the list that has been supplied by the CWGC which gives you an
idea of the numbers we could be looking at and their locations on the Isle of
Man
I would
appreciate it if you could have a look at our site and if anyone is interested
in helping to contact me on my project address
